Ingredients
Scale
Chickpeas
- 30 ounces chickpeas, drained (2 (15-ounce) cans)
Seasoning & Oil
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (from ½ lemon)
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F to prepare it for cooking the chickpeas evenly and crisping them to perfection.
- Season Chickpeas: In a medium bowl, toss the drained chickpeas with olive oil, lemon juice, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until they are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
- Arrange Chickpeas: Place half of the seasoned chickpeas into the air fryer basket, spreading them out into a single layer to ensure even cooking and crisping.
- Air Fry: Cook the chickpeas in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time to promote even browning and prevent sticking.
- Repeat and Serve: Remove the crispy chickpeas from the air fryer once done. Repeat the cooking steps with the remaining chickpeas. Serve immediately for the best crunch.
Notes
- Use drained and rinsed canned chickpeas for convenience or cook dried chickpeas beforehand.
- Shake the basket at least once during cooking to prevent burning and to achieve even crisping.
- Store cooled chickpeas in an airtight container to maintain crispness up to 2 days.
- Adjust seasoning to taste; add cayenne for spiciness or cumin for an earthy flavor.
- For a lower fat version, reduce olive oil slightly but some oil is necessary for crispness.
