Ingredients
Scale
For the Cake
- 80 oz (two 40 oz cans) apple pie filling
- 35.8 oz (two 17.9 oz boxes) snickerdoodle cookie mix
- 1¾ cups melted butter (divided evenly over both pans)
- ¼ cup cinnamon sugar (reserve for sprinkling between layers and topping)
Optional Toppings
- Caramel syrup
- Vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease two 9×13-inch baking dishes to prevent sticking and ensure easy serving.
- Layer Apple Filling: Divide the apple pie filling evenly between the two prepared pans, spreading it out as the base layer.
- Add Cinnamon Sugar: Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar evenly over the apple pie filling in each pan to add a warm, spicy sweetness.
- Top with Cookie Mix: Evenly distribute the snickerdoodle cookie mix over the cinnamon sugar layer in each pan to create the cake’s crumbly topping.
- Level the Topping: Lightly press the cookie mix to level it for even baking and texture.
- Drizzle Butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cookie mix in both pans, which helps the topping become golden and crisp during baking.
- Optional Cinnamon Sugar Topping: Optionally, sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar over the butter-drizzled cookie mix for extra flavor and crunch.
- Bake: Bake the cakes in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly and hot.
- Cool: Let the dump cakes cool for 10–15 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set slightly.
- Serve: Serve warm, optionally topped with caramel syrup, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream for a rich, comforting dessert experience.
Notes
- Use two 9×13-inch pans for this recipe; do not try to bake in one large pan as it will affect cooking time and texture.
- Make sure to lightly grease baking dishes to prevent sticking.
- The cake is best enjoyed warm but can also be served at room temperature.
- Feel free to add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the topping for extra crunch.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated before serving.
