Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 1 French stick / baguette (~60cm / 2ft long)
Garlic Butter
- 125 g / 1 US stick unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tsp fresh garlic, minced (about 3 – 4 cloves, packed teaspoons)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp finely chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) to get it ready for baking the garlic bread.
- Prepare the Bread: Cut the French stick in half lengthwise, then slice almost through the bread into 2cm (4/5 inch) thick slices, keeping the base intact so the bread stays connected.
- Make Garlic Butter: In a bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and finely chopped parsley. Taste the mixture to adjust the salt and garlic according to your preference.
- Apply Butter to Bread: Spread the garlic butter generously over the cut sides of the bread slices to ensure each slice is flavored.
- Butter the Exterior: Spread any remaining garlic butter on the top and sides of the bread for extra richness and flavor.
- Wrap in Foil: Wrap the entire prepared bread tightly in aluminum foil to keep moisture in while baking.
- Bake the Bread: Place the foil-wrapped bread in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, until the crust becomes crispy. Check through the foil to confirm doneness.
- Serve: Carefully unwrap the bread from the foil, then serve immediately while warm and fragrant.
Notes
- Use a fresh French baguette or stick for the best texture and flavor.
- You can adjust the amount of garlic and salt in the butter mixture to suit your taste preference.
- If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, consider adding extra minced garlic.
- Wrapping in foil keeps the bread moist inside while allowing the crust to crisp during baking.
- This garlic bread is best served fresh but can be reheated wrapped in foil at 180°C (350°F) for 5-10 minutes.
