Description

This homemade Blueberry Greek Frozen Yogurt is a creamy, tangy, and naturally sweetened treat made with fresh or frozen blueberries, Greek yogurt, and a touch of honey or maple syrup. Perfect for a refreshing dessert or snack, it combines the rich flavors of berries and vanilla with the smooth texture of Greek yogurt, churned to perfection in an ice cream maker and then firmed up in the freezer.

Ingredients

Scale

Blueberry Mixture

  • 3 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Frozen Yogurt Base

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt, full-fat or 2%
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blueberry mixture: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the blueberries, honey or maple syrup, and lemon juice. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook and thicken: Continue cooking the blueberry mixture for about 10 minutes, until the blueberries break down and the liquid slightly thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool completely to room temperature.
  3. Puree the blueberries: Transfer the cooled blueberry mixture to a blender or food processor and blend on high speed until smooth, creating a vibrant blueberry puree.
  4. Mix yogurt base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir the blueberry puree into the yogurt mixture until fully blended and uniform in color and flavor.
  5. Churn the frozen yogurt: Pour the combined mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s directions for about 20–25 minutes, allowing it to thicken and achieve a creamy consistency.
  6. Freeze until firm: Transfer the churned frozen yogurt to an airtight container and freeze for an additional 2 to 3 hours to firm up the texture further.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Scoop the blueberry Greek frozen yogurt into bowls or cones and serve immediately for a refreshing, healthy homemade frozen treat.

Notes

  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamier texture, or 2% for a lighter version.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of honey or maple syrup to taste.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, freeze the mixture in a shallow container and stir every 30 minutes until a soft-serve consistency is reached.
  • For extra texture, you can leave some blueberry chunks by pulsing the blender fewer times.
  • Store leftover frozen yogurt in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week.
