Description

These Chicken in a Blanket bites are a delicious and easy appetizer featuring crispy popcorn chicken wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough, glazed with a sweet and tangy honey-poppy seed mustard sauce. Perfect for parties or a quick snack, they bake up golden and irresistibly tasty in under 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Dough

  • 24 ounce bag popcorn chicken
  • 1 8-count can crescent rolls

Glaze

  • 4 Tablespoon butter
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 3 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (or minced dried onion)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the oven and dough: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Unroll the crescent roll dough and cut each triangle into three smaller triangles to create bite-sized pieces.
  2. Assemble chicken bites: Take one piece of popcorn chicken and wrap it tightly with one of the small crescent roll triangles. Place each wrapped chicken piece onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly. Continue this process until all the popcorn chicken pieces are wrapped.
  3. Make the glaze: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and honey. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and combined. Stir in the poppy seeds, Dijon mustard, and onion powder until well mixed.
  4. Glaze and bake: Using a brush, generously coat each wrapped chicken bite with the honey mustard glaze. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. These are perfect as appetizers or snacks enjoyed warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the glaze.
  • Ensure popcorn chicken is thawed if previously frozen for even baking.
  • Brush glaze generously for a shiny, flavorful coating.
  • Can be served with extra Dijon mustard or ranch dressing for dipping.
