Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Chocolate Peanut Butter Candies featuring creamy peanut butter centers coated in smooth melted chocolate. Perfect for a quick homemade treat that requires no baking.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Peanut Butter Centers

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Coating

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate for a richer flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peanut Butter Mixture: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter, softened unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and well-combined, forming a thick dough-like consistency.
  2. Form the Candy Balls: Roll the peanut butter mixture into small, bite-sized balls. Place the balls evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze the tray for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the peanut butter centers to firm up.
  3. Melt the Chocolate: While the peanut butter balls chill, melt the chocolate chips with the optional coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring well between each, until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
  4. Dip the Peanut Butter Balls: Using a fork, dip each chilled peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate. Lift and gently tap the fork to remove any excess chocolate, then place the coated candy back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Set the Chocolate Coating: After all candies are coated, refrigerate the baking sheet for 15 to 20 minutes until the chocolate hardens and sets to create a firm, glossy shell.

Notes

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • Adding coconut oil helps achieve a smoother, shinier chocolate coating but is optional.
  • Store the candies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • You can substitute creamy peanut butter with natural peanut butter but expect a slightly different texture.
  • Make sure the peanut butter balls are firm before dipping to avoid melting the chocolate or losing shape.
