Classic Margarita
- 45 ml / 1.5 oz tequila
- 30 ml / 1 oz lime juice
- 15 ml / 0.5 oz Cointreau (or other Triple Sec)
- 1 lime wedge, plus extra for serving
- 1/4 cup coarse salt
Skinny Margarita
- 60 ml / 2 oz tequila
- 45 ml / 1.5 oz lime juice
- 30 ml / 1 oz orange juice
- 1 tsp light agave nectar
- 1 lime wedge, plus extra for serving
- 1/4 cup coarse salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Glass Rim: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into the coarse salt until it’s evenly coated. Set the glass aside.
- Make the Classic Margarita: In a shaker filled with ice, combine 45 ml tequila, 30 ml lime juice, and 15 ml Cointreau or Triple Sec. Shake well until chilled, then strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
- Make the Skinny Margarita: In a shaker filled with ice, combine 60 ml tequila, 45 ml lime juice, 30 ml orange juice, and 1 teaspoon light agave nectar. Shake well until chilled, then strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes
- Note 1: Cointreau can be substituted with any quality Triple Sec or orange-flavored liqueur.
- Note 2: Light agave nectar is used in the skinny margarita to reduce calories compared to traditional sweeteners.
- Use fresh lime juice for best flavor.
- Coarse salt is preferred for rimming to create a textured, flavorful bite.
