Description

This creamy Avocado Ranch Dressing combines ripe avocado with fresh herbs and classic ranch flavors for a smooth, tangy dressing perfect for salads, dips, or drizzling over your favorite dishes. Made with simple, fresh ingredients and easily customizable with dairy-free options, this recipe offers a healthier twist on traditional ranch dressing.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 large avocado (pitted, peeled, and quartered)
  • ¼ cup sour cream (can use dairy-free)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

Herbs and Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons chives (fresh, finely chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons dill (fresh, finely chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons parsley (fresh, finely chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper (to taste)

Liquid

  • ½-¾ cup milk (or buttermilk)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocado Base: Add the pitted, peeled, and quartered avocado, sour cream, and freshly squeezed lemon juice to a food processor. Process for 30-60 seconds until the avocado is smooth and creamy.
  2. Combine Remaining Ingredients: Add the mayonnaise, finely chopped chives, dill, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper along with ½ cup of milk into the food processor. Process just until all ingredients are combined evenly. If the dressing is too thick for your preference, gradually add more milk until you reach the desired consistency.
  3. Chill the Dressing: Transfer the dressing to a container and refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld nicely. Store any leftover dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.

Notes

  • Use dairy-free sour cream and mayonnaise to make this recipe vegan-friendly.
  • Adjust the milk quantity based on whether you prefer a thinner or thicker dressing.
  • Fresh herbs provide the best flavor, but dried herbs can be substituted if necessary—use about one-third of the fresh amount.
  • This dressing works well as a salad dressing, dip for vegetables, or sauce for sandwiches and grilled meats.
  • Store in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days for optimal freshness.
