Description
Deep Fried Oreos are a delicious indulgence featuring classic Oreo cookies dipped in a light pancake batter and fried to golden perfection. Crispy on the outside and gooey inside, these treats are perfect for a fun dessert or party snack.
Ingredients
Scale
Batter
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup pancake mix (such as Bisquick)
Cookies
- 18 ounce package Oreo cookies
For Frying
- Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying, about 4 inches in the pan)
Instructions
- Heat the oil. Heat about 4 inches of vegetable oil in a deep saucepan or skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature precisely for optimal frying.
- Prepare the batter. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk, egg, and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil until combined.
- Mix the batter. Gradually add the pancake mix to the wet ingredients, whisking until the batter is smooth and thick enough to coat the Oreos without being runny.
- Coat the Oreos. Remove the Oreos from the package and use a fork to fully coat each cookie in the pancake batter, ensuring an even layer.
- Fry the Oreos. Carefully drop 2-3 coated Oreos at a time into the hot oil. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes per side, or until they turn golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan to maintain oil temperature.
- Drain the excess oil. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried Oreos from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Repeat frying. Continue frying the remaining cookies in batches, monitoring the oil temperature and adjusting the heat as necessary to keep it steady at 350°F.
- Serve. Serve the deep fried Oreos warm. Optionally, dust them with powdered sugar for added sweetness. Enjoy immediately for the best taste and texture!
Notes
- Maintain the oil temperature at 350°F to ensure the Oreos cook evenly without absorbing excess oil.
- Do not overcrowd the pan during frying to avoid temperature drops in the oil.
- You can use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature control.
- Serve fried Oreos fresh for the best flavor and crispiness.
- Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or serve with a side of whipped cream or ice cream.
