Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Frying
- Oil for frying (enough to deep fry or shallow fry the balls)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form the Balls: Using your hands, take portions of the mixture and shape them into evenly sized balls, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, ensuring the cheese is well distributed inside.
- Heat the Oil: Pour enough oil into a deep skillet or frying pan to allow frying the balls. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches approximately 350°F (175°C) or until a small piece of breadcrumb sizzles immediately when dropped in.
- Fry the Beef Balls: Carefully place the beef balls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even golden-brown color and that the meat is cooked through.
- Drain and Serve: Once cooked, remove the fried beef balls with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot as an appetizer or snack.
Notes
- You can add spices like garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika to the meat mixture for extra flavor.
- To make sure the meatballs cook evenly, try to keep them uniform in size.
- If you prefer, bake the meatballs at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying for a healthier option.
- Use a thermometer to monitor the oil temperature to avoid under or over frying.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven for best texture.
