Description

These Homemade Date Snickers Bars are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional candy bars, combining the natural sweetness of dates, crunchy raw almonds, creamy nut butter, and rich dark chocolate. Perfect for a guilt-free treat, these bars require no baking and are quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 cup Medjool Dates (pitted before use)
  • 1/2 cup Nut Butter (almond or peanut butter, natural variety preferred)

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup Raw Almonds (chopped or whole, based on preference)
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)
  • Pinch Sea Salt (enhances flavors)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients, ensuring the Medjool dates are pitted and almonds are ready for use.
  2. Make Date-Nut Butter Mixture: In a food processor, combine the pitted dates and nut butter. Process until the mixture becomes smooth and sticky, forming the base layer for the bars.
  3. Form Base Layer: Line a square baking dish with parchment paper and transfer the date-nut butter mixture into it. Press down evenly to create a uniform base layer.
  4. Add Almonds: Sprinkle raw almonds over the base mixture. Gently press them into the surface so they adhere well.
  5. Melt Chocolate: Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth and fully melted.
  6. Apply Chocolate Layer: Pour the melted dark chocolate evenly over the almond layer, spreading it carefully to cover all the almonds and base.
  7. Refrigerate Bars: Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate has hardened completely.
  8. Cut Bars: Once set, use the parchment paper to lift the bars out of the dish. Cut into 12 squares or rectangles as desired.
  9. Store Properly: Store the homemade date Snickers bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will keep fresh for up to one week.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, chop almonds finely or pulse briefly before sprinkling.
  • Use natural, unsweetened nut butter to keep the bars healthier.
  • Adjust sweetness by selecting dates of varying natural sweetness.
  • Can substitute dark chocolate with semi-sweet if preferred, but flavor and health benefits may vary.
  • Ensure to chill thoroughly so the bars hold together well when cutting.
