Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken Stir Fry Noodles recipe features tender diced chicken breast and a vibrant mix of fresh vegetables tossed in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Combined with perfectly cooked spaghettini pasta, this quick and delicious stir fry is perfect for a weeknight dinner that comes together in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup liquid honey
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Main

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 pound spaghettini pasta
  • 1/2 tablespoon oil
  • 1 large chicken breast, diced
  • 2 large onions, cut into thin wedges
  • 1 large yellow pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 large red pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 large carrot, cut into strips
  • 2 cups thinly sliced red cabbage, not packed
  • Sliced green onion, for garnish
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: Thoroughly whisk together soy sauce, honey, water or chicken stock, tomato paste, cornstarch, and minced garlic in a small bowl. Set the sauce aside to let the flavors meld while you prepare the rest of the meal.
  2. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghettini pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta well and set it aside.
  3. Brown the chicken: Heat 1/2 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat in a very large pan, wok, or heavy-bottomed pot. Add the diced chicken breast and brown for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  4. Sauté the vegetables: Add the onions, yellow pepper, red pepper, carrot, and red cabbage to the pan with the chicken. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until the vegetables start to soften but still retain some crunch.
  5. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the vegetables and chicken. Stir constantly and allow the sauce to bubble and thicken slightly for about 1 minute, coating all ingredients evenly.
  6. Toss and serve: Add the cooked spaghettini pasta to the pan and toss everything together until the noodles are well coated with the sauce and combined with the chicken and veggies. Garnish with sliced green onion and fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • This recipe is easily adaptable by swapping chicken breast for tofu or shrimp for variation.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce salt content if desired.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free soy sauce and substitute spaghettini with rice noodles.
  • Make sure not to overcook the vegetables to keep them crisp and vibrant.
  • Adding a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes can add a nice spicy kick.
