- 2 cups uncooked rice (white or brown)
Sauce & Seasonings
- 4 cloves garlic, grated or minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
- Cook the rice: Prepare the rice according to the package instructions, either using a rice cooker or stovetop method, to have fluffy and tender rice ready as the base for the bowl.
- Brown the ground turkey: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground turkey and cook for 8-10 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula, until fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Prepare the sauce: While the turkey is cooking, combine grated garlic, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, crushed red pepper flakes, and ground black pepper in a bowl. Mix well to create a balanced savory-sweet Korean-inspired sauce.
- Simmer the turkey with sauce: Once the ground turkey is cooked through, add the sauce mixture to the skillet. Cook together for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the turkey evenly.
- Assemble and serve: Spoon the cooked turkey mixture over the cooked rice in bowls. Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added flavor and texture. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- You can use either white or brown rice depending on your preference and dietary needs.
- For a spicier version, increase the amount of crushed red pepper flakes or add a dash of gochujang (Korean chili paste).
- This dish can be meal prepped by keeping the cooked turkey and rice separate until ready to serve.
- Ground chicken or lean ground beef can be substituted in place of turkey if preferred.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce sodium content.
