Description

Rich and creamy Peanut Butter Frosting made with smooth peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar, perfect for frosting cupcakes, cakes, and other desserts. This easy-to-make frosting blends the nutty flavor of peanut butter with a smooth, buttery texture and just the right amount of sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature, two full sticks)
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine Butter and Peanut Butter: In a large mixing bowl or using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the unsalted butter and creamy peanut butter together until the mixture is smooth and creamy, ensuring no lumps remain.
  2. Add Flavorings and Half Sugar: Add the vanilla extract, salt, milk, and approximately half of the powdered sugar into the bowl. Mix on low to medium speed for about 30 seconds to incorporate all ingredients without causing a sugar cloud.
  3. Incorporate Remaining Sugar: Add the remaining half of the powdered sugar, then beat on medium to high speed until the frosting is well blended, smooth, and fluffy, which usually takes a couple of minutes.
  4. Scrape Bowl Sides: Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl to ensure all ingredients are fully combined into the frosting with uniform texture.
  5. Frost Your Dessert: Use a frosting spatula for spreading on cakes or fill a piping bag fitted with a tip such as Wilton 2D to decorate cupcakes neatly with the peanut butter frosting.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy mixing and smooth texture.
  • Adjust the thickness by adding more milk if frosting is too thick or powdered sugar if too thin.
  • For a chunkier texture, use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy.
  • Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Bring to room temperature and re-whip before using.
  • This frosting pairs beautifully with chocolate, vanilla, and banana-flavored cakes and cupcakes.
