Description

This Spaghetti Stuffed Garlic Bread is a delicious and hearty twist on traditional garlic bread, combining a loaf of bread dough filled with saucy spaghetti, seasoned ground beef, and melted mozzarella cheese. Perfect for a fun and filling meal that blends Italian flavors into one satisfying dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread Dough

  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough

For the Filling

  • 8 ounces spaghetti or angel hair pasta
  • 1 24-ounce jar spaghetti sauce, divided
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

For the Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Thaw and Prepare Dough: Allow the frozen bread dough to thaw and rise following the package instructions. This process will take approximately several hours. Begin the next steps during the last 20-30 minutes of the dough rising.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a medium skillet over medium heat, crumble and brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain off any excess fat. Stir in half of the spaghetti sauce and reduce heat to low, letting the mixture simmer gently as you proceed.
  3. Cook the Pasta: Boil the spaghetti or angel hair pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and toss with the remaining half of the spaghetti sauce. Set aside.
  4. Roll Out Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll the risen bread dough into a rectangle approximately 18 inches wide by 24 inches long. The dough may shrink slightly after rolling, which is expected.
  5. Prepare Baking Sheet: Lightly spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick spray, then transfer the rolled-out dough onto the sheet.
  6. Assemble Filling: Pour the meat sauce down the center of the dough rectangle. Layer the sauced spaghetti evenly over the meat sauce. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top of the pasta layer.
  7. Cut Dough Strips: Using a sharp knife, cut 1-inch-wide strips on each side of the filling, from the outer edges of the dough inward to the filling, creating matching numbers of strips on both sides.
  8. Crisscross the Dough: Starting at one end, fold the dough strips over the filling in an alternating crisscross pattern, working from side to side until the loaf is fully enclosed.
  9. Bake the Loaf: Place the prepared loaf in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35 minutes, or until the bread is golden and cooked through.
  10. Brush Garlic Butter: Combine the melted butter with garlic powder and brush this mixture over the hot baked spaghetti stuffed garlic bread for a flavorful finish.

Notes

  • Allow enough time for the bread dough to fully thaw and rise to ensure a soft and fluffy bread texture.
  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease and keep the filling neat.
  • Be careful while cutting dough strips so they are even and uniform for easy crisscrossing.
  • This dish can be served as a main course or a hearty appetizer for gatherings.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
