Ingredients
Scale
Hash Browns
- 2 cups Frozen Shredded Hash Browns (Drain excess moisture for best texture.)
- 2 tablespoons Cooking Oil (Choose oil with a high smoke point.)
- Salt, to taste
- Black Pepper, to taste
Toppings
- 1 large Ripe Avocado (Use ripe but not overly soft avocados.)
- 2 large Eggs (Fry sunny-side-up.)
- 1 small Red Chili Pepper (Thinly sliced.)
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Cilantro (Chopped.)
- 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds (For garnish.)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice (Prevents browning of avocado.)
Instructions
- Prepare the Hash Browns: In a skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat. Add the frozen shredded hash browns, making sure to spread them out evenly. Cook until they are golden brown and crispy on one side, about 7-8 minutes, then flip and cook the other side equally crisp. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Prepare the Avocado: While the hash browns cook, peel and pit the avocado. Mash it gently in a bowl, mixing in the lemon juice to prevent browning and add a slight tang.
- Cook the Eggs: In a separate non-stick pan, fry the eggs sunny-side-up. Cook until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper if desired.
- Assemble the Toast: Spread the lemon-infused mashed avocado evenly over the crispy hash browns. Top with the fried sunny-side-up eggs. Garnish with thinly sliced red chili pepper, chopped fresh cilantro, and sprinkle sesame seeds over the top for added texture and flavor.
- Serve: Serve immediately while warm, and enjoy your crunchy, spicy, and creamy breakfast treat.
Notes
- Drain excess moisture from frozen hash browns to ensure maximum crispiness.
- Use oils with a high smoke point like canola or vegetable oil for frying hash browns.
- If you prefer less heat, reduce or omit the red chili pepper.
- For vegan variation, skip the eggs and add extra avocado or a plant-based topping.
- Fresh lemon juice not only prevents avocado browning but adds a bright fresh flavor.
