Description

Delight in these festive Valentine Crinkle Cookies, featuring a tender, cake-mix based dough rolled in sparkling white sanding sugar and topped with a sweet chocolate heart. Perfectly soft and chewy with a charming crinkled appearance, these cookies bring a touch of love to any celebration or gift.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 (15.25 ounce) white cake mix
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon white chocolate extract (optional)

Topping

  • White sanding sugar (optional, for rolling)
  • 24 chocolate hearts

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350º F (175º C) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the cookies evenly.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a standing mixer, combine the white cake mix, vegetable oil, white chocolate extract, and 2 eggs. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated and a smooth dough forms.
  3. Portion Dough: Using a 1 tablespoon cookie scooper, scoop out portions of dough and shape each into a ball with your hands for uniform size.
  4. Coat with Sugar: Pour white sanding sugar into a bowl. Roll each cookie dough ball thoroughly in the sanding sugar to give them a sparkly, crinkled finish after baking.
  5. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the coated dough balls about 2 inches apart on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet to prevent sticking and allow space for spreading.
  6. Bake Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly set but still soft in the center. Remove from oven and let cool for 1 minute on the baking sheet.
  7. Add Chocolate Hearts: Gently press one chocolate heart into the center of each cookie while they’re still slightly warm. Allow cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Using white sanding sugar is optional but adds a beautiful crunchy texture and shimmer to the cookies.
  • If you cannot find white chocolate extract, you may omit it or substitute with vanilla extract for a slightly different flavor.
  • Ensure to space cookie dough balls 2 inches apart to prevent sticking during baking.
  • Allow cookies to cool fully before handling to let chocolate hearts set properly.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
