Description

This Veal Taco Crescent Ring is a delicious and easy-to-make savory pastry, perfect for a fun family meal or party appetizer. Ground veal seasoned with taco spices is wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough, topped with cheese and green onions, then baked to golden perfection. The crescent ring shape makes it visually appealing and great for sharing, served alongside your favorite taco toppings.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Filling

  • 1 pound ground veal
  • 1 ounce taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 cup taco blend cheese, shredded

Dough and Topping

  • 16 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (2 cans, 8 oz each)
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s ready for baking the crescent ring.
  2. Cook Veal: Add the ground veal to a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until the veal is fully cooked and no longer pink.
  3. Add Seasoning: Stir in taco seasoning mix and water to the cooked veal. Simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Prepare Dough: Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate into 16 triangles. Let dough soften slightly at room temperature for easier handling.
  5. Arrange Dough: Spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Arrange the triangles in a circle with short sides forming a 5-inch circle in the center and points facing outward, overlapping slightly.
  6. Add Filling: Evenly distribute the veal mixture on the widest part of each triangle. Sprinkle the sliced green onions and shredded taco blend cheese over the meat.
  7. Fold Dough: Fold the pointed end of each triangle over the filling and tuck it underneath the inside edge of the ring to secure the filling inside.
  8. Egg Wash: Whisk the egg and brush it over the top of the crescent dough for a shiny, golden finish.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the crescent ring is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Cool and Serve: Let the crescent ring cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite taco toppings.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for leaner meat options.
  • Letting the crescent dough soften at room temperature helps prevent tearing when folding.
  • Serve with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or sliced jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven for best texture.
  • Ensure the ring is well sealed to prevent filling leakage during baking.
